Often times people try to find many ways to heal themselves through different avenues. People may find healing in mediation, exercise and some may choose medical assistance. A local entreprenuer chooses to make natural products to sooth the soul.

Zakiya Pauling creates all natural products for the skin and body. With her hand made products she has been able to expand her mindset. “I created “Treat Yo’self” to help myself and help others to be one with themselves.” Pauling makes whipped shea butter with natural shae butter from natrual shea oils. Her homemade bath bombs are made with real ingredients such as coca butter, sea salt and different flower petals. Her final creation is her exfoliating brown sugar scrub that she makes brown sugar, sea salt and coconut oil.

Zakiya wants to encourage the use of natural products. It’s been known that since the recent information that the household name “Johnson and Johnson” has sold many products that knowingly had harmful products within the ingredietns. “That’s scary when you trust a brand with your body and life and you feel as if they have betrayed you,” Zakiya stated. Johnson and Johnson had recently faced many civil charges due to the many people who have suffered from the hazardous ingredients.

Zakiya makes her products through- out the week and takes a trip to the local trade market to sell to the public on the weekends. “I like to go there and network with others. Because it’s great to get new ideas because there are other people selling similar products like me.” Zakiya continues to try new creations daily. Many people are finding the benefits of going natural and knowing what they are using for their bodies. Zakiya also encourages natural eating and everyday habits for better a lifestyle.
